Turning protection on

  1. Open 24Defend and tap the shield on the main screen.
  2. Read the screen explaining how the local VPN works, then tap Continuar (Continue).
  3. iOS will ask permission to add a VPN configuration. You need to allow it — without it the app cannot inspect links.
  4. Once the shield reads Protegido (Protected), you are covered across every app on the phone.

No account and no personal information are required.

Turning protection off

In the app, tap the shield or the Desactivar protección (Turn off protection) button. Protection stops immediately.

You can also remove the VPN configuration from the system: Settings → General → VPN & Device Management → VPN → 24Defend. Deleting the app removes the configuration along with it.

A legitimate site was blocked

This is rare — official bank and government sites are verified in advance, so most false positives are small or newly created sites.

If it happens:

When we correct a detection, the correction applies to every user, not just the person who reported it.

A fraudulent site was not blocked

Send the link to info@24defend.com — without opening it. We investigate it, and if we confirm it is fraudulent it goes into the block list for every user.

Protection is on but I have no internet

Try these in order:

  1. Turn protection off and on again from the app.
  2. Toggle airplane mode on and off.
  3. If it persists, turn protection off and write to us — this is a problem we want to see.

The app never cuts your internet on purpose. If protection fails, traffic continues to flow normally.

Frequently asked questions

Can 24Defend see what I do on my phone?

No. The app only looks at which domain each link you open points to — never the content of your messages or of the sites you visit. Around 99.8% of checks are resolved entirely on your phone. Only suspicious domains we have never seen are sent to our servers, and only the domain name.

Why does it need a VPN?

It is the only mechanism iOS offers to inspect domain lookups system-wide, and therefore to protect you across every app rather than only in the browser. The VPN is local: filtering happens on your own phone, and your traffic does not pass through our servers.

Is it free?

Yes, for all individuals.

Does it work with WhatsApp, SMS and email?

Yes. It works with any app, because it acts at the moment the phone looks up the site's address, regardless of where you opened the link.

What data do you keep about me?

No email, no phone number, no sign-up. An anonymous random device identifier, the names of blocked or suspicious domains, and aggregate statistics. The detail is in the privacy policy.
